Greetings and salutations!

Once again I “think” I am going to hit the ground running with this whole “blogging” thing.

Truth is, this is not the first blog I have started.  I have started a few over my years of goofing around on the internet.  Everytime I start a blog I think to myself (in my best Steve Martin voice)

“Self, this time you are going to do it!  This time you are going to be consistent in your blogging.  This time you are going to do a better job!”

Truth be told I probably have blogger accounts and blogg sites scatted all over the world wide web.  I think though now I am settled.  I am ready to seriously start blogging.  Not because I think anyone else cares, but because I care.

MLR!  My Life Rocks!  I really hate the phrase FML.  That has to be the worst phrase ever invented by anyone.  Do the people who use that phrase really understand its meaning?  I see people using that phrase on a daily basis and it drives me crazy.

MLR, I have four kids who I love and love me.  I have a great job where I work from home that allows me some flexibility with my kids.  I have the most beautiful and fantastic wife someone could have ever married.  Just as important is God, not just in my life, he is ever present in my familys lives and my friends as well.  Even on my worst day, my most depressing day, the day where nothing goes right I never think FML!

What would that mean?  That would mean that the entire paragrah above does not matter.  The real truth is it does.  Every day my life matters, every day my wifes life matters, every day my kids lives matter and every day the lives of those I love matters.

I wake up every morning and I thank the lord that he blessed me with another day to spend on this earth.  Far be it from me to slap the lord above in the face with the phrase FML.  This is not meant to be a religous post, you may wake up every morning with a different style of motivation.

Like eighty percent of the world (with the exception of my lovely wife who has gone through life without it) I have a facebook account.  My status feed, on any given day, is full of status posts with the phrase FML in it.  I admit at first it took me a little while to figure out what it meant.  Embarrasing enough I had to google it.  Not surprising though. Over half the stuff I read on a facebook status update I have to google.  I have seen this phrase posted about everything, heat, cold, work, appointments, etc.  To me it seems pretty cool that you can still expiereince hot and cold.  You still have the ablity to go work and appointments.  After all it cannot be that bad, you still found the time and the device to post to facebook, so your life must not be that bad, infact YLR!  🙂

So, I challenge you, if you have indeed stuck with me to the bitter end of this post.  To spend one week, month, year, lifetime, whatever you choose using the phrase MLR instead.  Even on the days when you do truley think FML, instead post “my [blank] today.  #MLR!”  Not only will it feel good to turn the other cheek to the guys trying to give your life a lemon you can also give yourself a little pick me up.

Remember that MRL, YLR, TLR!  (For those of you paying attention that is My Life Rocks, Your Life Rocks, and This Life Rocks!)

Oh yeah, #MLR (as in hashtag, or pound MY LIFE ROCKS)

If you got my Steve Martin reference good for you.  I wonder if he still thinks about that cat.  🙂

#MLR.

Marcus OUT!  (for now)
